I've recently purchased a '80 9.2A and and working through various issues. Bear with me, as I am new to all this. I downloaded the owner's manual and it indicates there should be a turnbuckle on the forestay. Mine doesn't have one. The only headsail I have has a 40' luff, which seems beyond specs. Perhaps they removed the turnbuckle to fit this?

Did all 9.2's come with turnbuckles on the forestay? I'm replacing the furler and have struck the mast to address some halyard issues, so now seems to be the time to get this straight.

Thanks

1st off welcome to the forum John....

what kind of furler is on the boat now.....i had a turnbuckel on my 79 model and they came with a CDI furler when mine was made.....it had a turnbuckel....i am changing to a hood furler and it has no turn buckel.....there are a lot of different furlers out there...so it is up to you what kind you want to put on the boat ...i am useing the hood because it was very economical in my case to use it ....the dimentions in the manual are correct as far as i can tell.....make sure if you use them it states in the manual that the dimentions are based on the turnbuckels being 2/3 open for the dimentions...as the wire rope will stretch some after instalation ....hope this helps...

regards

The boat is still some distance up the Chesapeake, so I have limited access.

The furler has no identifying markings on it that I could find. We suspect that it was bought used, with the sail, and made to fit. It was too long to leave room for a turnbuckle. I can adjust the new (Alado) furler to a shorter length and have a turnbuckle on hand, ready to install. I'll then have to either have the sail shortened a bit (it's got a 40' luff), or get a new one. Either way, we should have a new furler and a forestay with a turnbuckle before we're out on the Bay again.

Thanks.

You will love your new Alado furler. We have added one this year also and it works with ease.
