The fuel gauge wasn't working so I tried to take a volt reading from the back of it. I must have created a short because some sparks flew after a few attempts in the tight spot. Next thing I know, the panel has no power and when I turn the key I get nothing. No buzzer, no lights.

I checked what appeared to be the power source (a red cable going to one side of the switch and got nothing. I spent a few hours tracing cable around the boat and it appears that it comes from the engine. Is there a fuse somewhere that I blew?

If anyone has any wiring diagrams or information, it would be much appreciated. I spent hours trying to figure it out.

Its a 2000 320.

Thanks

Gareth

Fuse

No doubt a fuse. I can't help for your model. I have a fuse at the main switch and on the instrument panel itself.

On the older Yanmars, the fuse is down in the harness, just above the starter motor on port side of engine.. It is in a little green plastic clamshell case so it does not look like a normal fuse holder.. It is in the red wire that runs from the starter motor big red wire back to the panel..

Thanks all. I found a wiring diagram which cleared up many of my 'head scratches' while I was at the boat yesterday. I will pickup a new fuse and try replacing it today.

A couple more questions.

1. I assume its a regular glass tube fuse. Does anyone know for sure?
2. Should I be able to access it without other tools?

Thanks

Gareth

It was the fuse. Thanks all for your help.

It was pretty tricky to access, but didnt require any tools.
