I know I will draw some flack from this but I am wrong to,looking out the window at all the snow and seeing people walk by maybe we should all get off our computers and remember our familiess and even go out for a walk and just look around even if that just means going down the street or down the docks and just saying merry xmas to someone we do not know. Remember we are the lucky ones we have something a lot of people do not. We have a boat that we can rely on to give us some pleasure even when we are getting fed up with fixing things {I have been there} Just enjoy the day for what it is .......Merry Xmas

Well.... that all sounds so romantic!
but thats what I do when the weather is bearable. when its cold and nasty I stay inside and connected to it all with my computer.

P.S. as far as "getting fed up with fixing things"...... that just doesnt happen here. I enjoy working on my boat and winter is the only time i get to work on it nonstop without good sailing days interrupting me.... life is always good here, but some days are spectacular

The JOY of Xmas is almost as much fun as "working" my boat!

You might be in Blaine, but we're here on Vancouver Island, between Victoria and Nanaimo.

Unless there is a widely different weather pattern from being 30 mils away from you, it is blowing 35 knots and bloody RAINING cats & dogs, so I don't anticipate doing any walking outside, today.

There was a skiff of snow here last night. So it was a white Christmas.
This morining I spent time with my family and then shipped them off to the airport to go to PEI and see grandma and grandpa. No snow there. I'm told its like the West coast, rain and wind. They will have fun anyway. Its tough no to with a 5 year old little girl.
This afternoon I got to seal the cork float for my outboard. Then lubed everything and got the tilt lock working the way its supposed to.
Now I've got the sewing machine out on the dining room table for some "boat sewing" First is lengthen the sunbrella sail cover by 10". Then make a hatch cover shade/ vent. (Thanks Sail Right!)
Hope everyone else is having as much fun as I am.
Almost forgot; I'm a bachelor for the week too!
If the boat was in the water this could be the best Christmas ever!

Terrible weather here. Overcast and only 80 degrees. Didn't even walk outside and check the boat.

Actually just came back from a great Christmas dinner/potluck with our sailing friends. Great times and even better friends. Half of our group is anchored out for Christmas. Great times for sure!!!!

Went for a drive on Dune Road in Southampton this PM. Nice way to spend a few hours on a dreary east coast Christmas day. Days are growing longer!

Just sent my three kids, their significant others and three granddaughters (10,2,1) home after shredding dinner and tissue paper.

The temperature here at 4PM was 69 degrees. Now it's 7:30PM and only 45 degrees with 32 being the predicted low. The wind is gusting up to 35 mph. So I'm updating the navigation program on the boat laptop and picking out a couple of kindle books to read and checking on my friends online. NOT going outside until winter's open.


Which should be in a couple of days.

Guess I missed it (not!) while I was spending time with the family. Opened presents, played Spades and Risk (and set up the First mate's new laptop, tablet flippy screen computer) all day long in between eating turkey, mashed tators, rolls, ...... and coffee/beer.

Merry Christmas Everyone

Just opened the site after sitting drinking my 1st coffee of this beautiful sunny day here on the frozen east coast. Presently -7Cel here in Fredericton and as I'm typing the Dept. of Transportation just drove past spreading salt & sand on our street that for all intents and purposes looks like a skating rink.

My wifes family and the oldest of our three kids, he's 33 were here for supper last evening. The other two kids, 32 and 30 didn't make it home from Toronto this year. Supper was the traditional turkey with all the fixin with two different pies for dessert. All this was complicated by a cast on my right wrist after a surgery last week, but all in all a great day with gifts, food, drink and especially family.

The Captain and I will be headed to Eastport, Maine tomorrow a.m. (whether permitting) to check the winter cover on Mysterious Ways and pay our storage bill. Walks about the boatyard and Eastport will be optional.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and that the New Year brings you an early launch and a fantastic summer of sailing.

Merry Christmas to all... Didn't miss it either. Kid was at 'camp grandma'; 1st mate had the flu so we stayed home; walked the neurotic dog enough times to see most of the neighbors; still waiting for the yard to say the''ve done the promised work on the boat(hurricane and crappy weather keeps delaying them); cooked Xmas eve dinner; watched snow come down while we enjoyed a brandy; had quietest Xmas morn since before the kid; helped 1st mate set up new kindle; enjoyed another brandy while catching up via phone with family too far away...

we were finding growing swell due to cold front ppassing thru--we had a whole 4-5 ft of swell!!!! from the south----so i am going to relocate my boat to a mor eprotected area of zihuatenejo bay, and so be it.....i spent holydays on board in beautiful bahia zihuatenejo with awesome sunrises and a decent sunset...will post pix after i repair my acer with picture capabilities--these linux machines make me unable to upload pix from camera, so i will have to wait...just a few more weeks or days----

btw--is soo cold here, folks are starting to actually wear shirts.....was 78F this am when i arose....
