I was just window shopping at the Hunter Marine website and it looks like they have discontinued the "New" H25 that replaced the water ballast sisters back in 2006 or so.

For all of the setup costs involved in putting out a new model, you would think a production run would last longer than 4 to 5 years. Guess the market just wasn't there.

Now the only option hunter has for a trailerable "cruiser" is the Edge. Not faulting the mindset behind that model or as evidenced by the 1,000s of Macgregors sold, but surely there is still a market for traditional trailerable cruisers. Guess that segment of sailors will all be heading to Catalina now for the 22 or 250.

From a marketing standpoint a company needs to decide where the money is (or is not).

If you are not competative in a market segment then maybe it is time to leave (which it appears that they may have done).

I still love mine

When I bought my 2005 H25, I also considered the H27 as well, but decided that I'd like to be able to pull it out on a trailer for maintenance as I have limited access to boat lifts. For my purposes the H25 was the perfect boat. The shoal draft of 24 inches lets me go into shallow areas. The lack of a swinging or lifting centerboard saves some hassle. I think one of the issues, is that when you set one up with all options and a few extras beyond that, the cost difference between the 25 and the 27 is minimal.
