No More Dinghy Butt

Wet butts are rampant among cruisers.
I found the cure years ago at the Annapolis Boat show - it was called a "WaveSlicker". It was a skirt made from water resistant fabric. It was designed as a 3/4 wrap with an open front, a webbing waist with snap buckle, and flaps (or wings) on the sides so you could wrap them around to cover your thighs when sitting in the dinghy. I bought a few made from treated fabric and we used them for years, until the originals started to permeate due to fabric breakdown.
I tried searching for the original company and haven't found them. So my wife stitched together a few more from naugahyde remnants. We don't get complements (ha-ha) but often get favorable comments and understanding grins at dinghy docks. Ashore, we carry them in our backpack with the wet sides folded inward. If you sew, it's simple to make your own. For the one in my photo, the height is 30" and the width from wing to wing is 54". I suggest you scale the waist and webbing to allow for adjustment for extra clothing or smaller-larger crew.
