No fuel gauge! any ideas? anybody added one?

our 1984 34 hunter doesn't have a fuel gauge. there doesn't seem to be anyway to check fuel quantity other than guess from the time used. any suggestions?

Studfinder....

not sure of the exact location on an H34, but on the H31 (same basic boat) you can get to the tank. A cheap studfinder from the builder supply store will show you the level of fuel in the tank. A flashlight at the right angle will also do the same thing. OTOH, the Snake River system discussed at length here in the archives, and I think sold at the chandlery is a good system for this particular boat.

Fuel Whistle

I have just started producing a 'Fuel Whistle' which can be added to any inboard fuel tank to let you know when your tank is full. Prevents any fuel spill into the waterways. Takes a couple of minutes to install and your all set. No moving parts and no electrical hookup.

Added the Tempo fuel guage from Boat/US

We installed the Tempo fuel guage from Boat/US (P/N Fuel Gauge Kit - for 6" to 24" deep tanks 280160 393589 Only $47.99) Drained tank, drilled hole in top, installed sender, installed gauge in footwell of cockpit. Works great.
