no forestay

[gone with the wind]

have a catalina 22 with
no forestay deck mount
there are no holes where one coud have been.
does this make sense
to anyone? the boat is
1973 in great shape.just
looks as if they forgot to install.

I hope

that you haven't been sailing your boat without a forestay. I don' think that if the winds were much, the forward lowers would hold the mast up for long. You could loose the mast that way.

I just recovered a 1974 Cat 22, and the deck harware at the bow was a little questionable on her as well. I suggest you find the nearest Catalina dealer, who repairs boats, and show him a picture of your bow, outboard and under the deck up in the bow below decks. He will tell you what you need to do to install proper hardware. It's pretty massive, and I know if you ask Catalina direct, they will tell you DONT sail without it.
