I have recently purchased a 1987 28.5 .I have power everywhere except the ignition panel. I can start the engine by shorting out the starter soleniod..but nothing at the switch. Any ideas?
John:Do you have the DC Main switch on and the batteries on 1 or both or 2?Just starting with the basics !!!If this is the case, I would switch all the DC & AC breakers to the on position and see if something is cross wired or mis=labeled!
There are two large connectors aft of the starter near the bellhousig. If they are loose you will loose power to the panel.Pat McCartinInland Marine DieselBuford, Gaimd_ga@hotmail.com
You do not state the engine model. My Yanmar 2QM20 has a fuse mounted on the engine block. It is under a plastic cover and behind the alternator as Fred points out. Fuse can be seen in attached wiring diagram from the Yanmar manual, at top/left on the red wire.
