no bilge pump

i just found out that my catalina 22 does not come with a bilge pump.what to do? --do i go with a manual or an electric?pros & cons, anyone?thanx.

My C22 (1984 model, kept in a slip) has a manual pump. The PO said he never used it. I have never used it and probably never will.I personally wouldn't bother, but if I were going to install a pump in a C22 I think I would use a manual one. I would mount it were it can be used while at the helm. Most of the C22's I have seen don't have a pump at all though.Pete

Manual bilge pump

My Catalina 18 came with a manual pump (Whale 'Gusher') through-mounted in the cockpit near the helm. It's cheap insurance if you get the cabin swamped. I also carry a Beckson Thirsy Mate portable hand pump and a bucket, too.
