NMEA 2000 to Analogue

I am in the midst of slowly upgrading my navigation, wind, depth and speed systems. I have purchased a new B&G chart plotter and new wind and speed/depth transducers, all NMEA 2000. I would like to use my old analogue gauges. Can I send data from my NMEA transducers via the the backbone to my old analogue gauges?

Thanks

It would depend on what you have for old gauges. Many don't have a proper interface.

I have various Datamarine equipment. I am still searching for info on this but no luck.

Depth sounder: Datamarine S 200D
Knot Meter: Datamarine S 100KL
Apparent wind: Datamarine S 100KL

What does Datamarine have to say? How do you plan to interface the N2K data into the gauges? I have not seen any type of adapter that looks like it can do that. Essentially, you want to convert the smart sensor language back to the simple pulse that the analogue instruments converted. Good Luck.

Not much chance that the gages will read NMEA 2000 from the NMEA buss. they may read the direct sensor input from the sensors though. Does each sensor have a "box" that it connects to that then connects to the NMEA backbone?
Course that would be kinda dumb as you would not be able to network the sensors (major plus as you get a lot of calculated info like VMG and true wind speed and angle, current set and drift.....)
Why not just use the plotter to display the info?

Yes, the plotter will display all the info but when someone else is at the helm and needs a little guidance it is nice to have the the gauges that are mounted on the bulkhead visible to all. Plus its also nice to have an extra pair of eyes on the depth as well.

If the sensors have individual boxes that attach to the NMEA backbone it might be possible to splice wires off the sensor wires to your old guages in a parallel fashion. that is to say the sensor feeds the NMEA box and the old guage.

Heck, when you think about it. If you really wanted a second display you can almost add a small second nema 2000 compatible mfd for the cost of any hardware you might need with a whole lot less hassle. What's your time worth? Alternatively, there is the possibility of throwing then nema 2000 data out wirelessly and using an iPad to receive and display the data.

Thanks for the input. The reason I am looking to continue to use what I have, is that I would have to spend about another thousand to do what I want to do with new equipment. I am not seeing anything less than $500 for wind and another $500 for speed and depth.
