Nissan 5hp high thrust prop

I am unable to find the post relating to the Nissan 5hp high thrust prop
Just looking for a supplier. Does anyone know if its a 5 or 6 pitch?
Does the 6hp HT prop fit the 5hp model.
I know Tohatsu makes all the Nissan and Mercury models below 40hp.

It looks like props are interchangeable between the 4HP,5HP and 6HP. The name "high thrust prop" does not mean much. You cannot do any better than finding the proper pitch for your combination of boat and engine. This will allow the engine to attain its maximum rated RPM and put out its maximum HP. A stainless steel prop will allow less distortion and will last longer. I see that the range in pitch recommended by the manufacturer is 6"--9". The diameter of the prop is usually limited by the manufacurers location of the anti-ventilation plate and for these engines 200 mm is the rcommended diameter. The engines are usually shipped with the standart 7" pitch. If you are not getting full RPM you could try the 6" pitch but make sure there is no overreing which could damage the engine.

I have a 2009 6hp UL model which comes with an elephant ear 6 pitch for pushing heavy loads, such as a sailboat. You can get a definite answer by emailing your question to info@tohatsu.com. The 4,5,6 tohatsu are the same engine except for the carbueration.

I ordered the prop from Defender. Part #303262 and Nissan/Tohatsu part# 399B645121
Dia. 8.375 Pitch 6, 3 blade
It fits the Nissan/Tohatsu 4/5/6 hp 4 strokes
I'll let you know how it performs next week, weather permitting.

I'm going to follow your lead and get the same prop for my Tohatsu. The one on the motor, 7.8 x 8, is way too high pitched for my boat (5,000 lbs). With the current prop I have to kind of coast up to the dock, hopefully the 6 pitch will help me to slow, maybe even stop the boat.

I put the high thrust prop on my h23 yesterday. WOW. It makes a wake at 3/4 throttle. I'd guess nearly twice the speed. I maintain my old fastest speed at a high Idle. When I back out of my slip and put it into forward, it actually goes forward. It stops the boat in 10' instead of 30' at idle. It backs up so fast water was half way up the stern. It barely moved in reverse before. Very easy install with my boat backed into the slip. ( this means I didn't drop anything into the water) About 5 min. or less. I didn't open it up as I was afraid of over revving. I highly recommend this for any 5hp h23.

I am readying myself to order a new 6hp Tohatsu for my '86 H23. Could someone help me with the pros and cons of choosing a 20" vs. a 25" long shaft. I'm guessing that longer is better, but don't know what the problem is with too long? I sail in a midwestern inland lake that is generally quite deep.

The owner's manual for the outboard will always list the ideal depth of the propeller under the water. On a sailboat with an adjustable motor mount 5" may not matter. If the end of the outboard is still dragging in the water with the motor mount in the top notch, you just tilt the outboard up. The extra 5" may keep the propeller in the water when you have large wave action.

On the transom of a dingy is another story.

Mine came on the boat and is 20". I would buy the 25".
