I have a new Nissan 4 stroke 6HP for my Capri 22. While in gear, if I turn the throttle to the very slowest level (really twisting it all the way clockwise), it shuts off. The dealer has checked it over & says it's OK. The motor starts easily, is very reliable and runs well at slow speeds, just not at the absolute slowest position. Is this characteristic of the motor?

four stroke

I bought the 5 hp about a month or so ago and it did the same thing. Very frustrating when trying to dock. I just popped off the top and adjusted the throttle linkage a bit to correct the problem. I haven't had any more trouble with it stopping. good luck Ken

Idle Adjustment?

Isn't there an idle adjustment on that motor? I don't have a four-stroke, but I gotta think it would have that feature like the two-strokes do. On my two-stroke, the idle adjustment is on the end of the twist-grip. It will turn independent of the throttle portion of the grip to adjust the idle speed. Do you have the owner's manual? Maybe you can take a look there to see what adjustments are available.
