We went to see the Nina in Punta Gorda yesterday, was very impressivebut not a trip I would be looking to join. The 7 crew members are all volunteers and some 8 months of sailing but mostlymotoring to different ports, they only get three meals a day and lots of work. They began building in 1988 to become the first truly, historically correct replica of a15th century caravel. It was in Valenca brazil using only hand tools and naturally shaped timbers fromthe local forest that Nina was built. She will be leaving next week on the first high tide, she is sitting in 5 ft of water at the dock in the photo.Length Overall 93.6Beam 17.3Sail Area 1,919 sq.ftLength on Deck 66 ftDraft 7 ftDisplacement 100 tons
