Had a 5.4 magnitude earthquake this morning at 11:42 a.m. Epicenter was Chino Hills in Los Angeles. Felt it down here in North San Diego County. Wasn't too bad but for those that don't like the ground moving, it was a big one! The shaking lasted about 5 or so seconds.

Has anyone ever been on their boat, and not tied to a dock, when an earthquake struck? Wonder what it would feel like to be on a boat during an earthquake. Hmmm...

We held a drop drill and earthquake drill after the shaking stopped.

That Polytechnic HS, always prepared, even if its after the disaster.

I was on board

H45 Oceanside, CA

I was sitting at the nav station plotting for my trip, boat was in the slip, all's calm, when I felt a jolt like when a boat goes by too fast in the marina. I started thinking, "what would an earthquake feel like in the water?" Turns out to be that 5.4 quake.

I was aboard USS Belleau Wood (LHA-3) in drydock around 1979 in drydock in Long Beach when a quake hit. Interesting.

Yup

Was on my O'Day 27 in Dana Point Harbor when the Whittier EQ hit. We were seated in the cabin having something to eat when the fish started making so much noise we thought they were being chased by a seal, but then the boat started surging against the lines like Dan described. We turned the radio on and found out about the quake. Didn't feel this one; we were in the car. Rick D.
