Oh, I feel for all you sailors whose......
....sailing season runs from May to September! Sorry, but I couldn't function living in a place where five to six months of sailing was all I could enjoy. Most people who are not from around here look down on coastal Mississippi and Alabama but the truth is this is a fantastic place to live and work. Along with a lower cost of living, sailors here enjoy year round sailing, albeit it sometimes hot and sometimes cold (rarely any snow either). And since we're not burdened by rituals of hauling out in the fall and waiting in line to "splash" in the spring, we're able to spend more time behind the helm. Yea, sure, we have some nasty hurricanes to worry with but at least we can see them coming, unlike the poor folks in the midwest who get slammed unexpectedly by terrible tornados that come in the night and suck the life from everything. Or like those on the west coast where the ground can start shaking without a moment's notice. Or those of you in the northeast where snow piles are measured in feet instead of inches....I couldn't live like that...sorry. I hope all you folks with the short season have a nice breeze and smooth sea to enjoy.....take care....Dick
