Has anyone heard how the new Cyclades model compares to the 473? I'm thinking specifically about liveaboard space. Has anyone gotten a chance to see the Cyclades? I can't find any info on Beneteau's page, just press releases from the Paris boat show.

Nothing Yet!

Mason, There has been a lot of chatter on the Beneteau Owners List. Apparently none available here for view as yet, but there is one on the way. As you may be aware, this boat is targeted at the charter companies and apparently they had a fair amount of input in the design and specifications. From what I have seen, I'm not particularly impressed. We will just have to wait and see the real thing. Jon McClain

Charter input

I had noticed that the boat seemed to be aimed at charters - from the few pics available it appears to be a "hose it down" sort of design. The pieces I read did say that increasing interior space was one of the criteria that the designers wanted to accomplish, along with a reduced feature set to simplify production (and to make multi-orders from charter outfits less of a hassle, I'm sure). I just wondered if the increase in space put it in a position to vie for family liveaboard cruising. The layout seems decent enough, and the price seems decent, relatively. Guess we'll have to wait for a full review somewhere. Thanks for the reply.

Cyclades Models

I met a dealer who explained the new Cyclades models are targeted to the Charter industry. They are built to the same quality standards of all their boats, but fewer options are available. This will allow competitive pricing as the boats are more production models (fewer changes at the factory). IHTH, Marc

Cyclades Pictures...

Mason : Have a look at these pictures... http://murrayyachtsales.photosite.com/Beneteaucyclades43/ Of course, if Beneteau would just take this 43 ft hull, change the "puke yellow" stripes to blue & give us a 2 cabin version, we might have something to talk about !! Cheers, Paul. www.winpipe.ca

I dunno...

I have two young boys, and the wife, of course, so a three cabin "hose it down" looks pretty good for our purposes. We use the extra cabin for storage, and as the 9 year old gets older, we can convert that to his cabin. Downsides to the Cyclades? Does anyone know what the options packages are for this line? I know there's only one layout, but any winch/electronics/furling/etc. changes possible?
