Hi all - I'm going to head up to Newport this year with my 6 yr old son to the boat show this weekend. I would love any feedback here from the group on the show. Is it child-friendly? He loves anything-boating (even if its not 100% child-friendly) but wanted to ask the opinions here re overall tips and reccos. We are driving up for the day from Long Island.

Thanks - Rob

I shouldn't give you this answer,

mainly because I'm not a big kids person. But yes, it is child friendly.

The key is to have boat shoes that he can put on and take off easily. Some of the boats you can't wear shoes on, others you can.

It should be a lot of fun. He will likely get bored with the tents (gear, electronics, charters, etc. for sale) but really like the boats. And they usually have a lot of boats.

I would recommend Pier 49 for lunch and get the Cap'n Crunch Shrimp for an appetizer.

Wear crocks. Easy to put on and off. Children are always welcomed as long as the parents can control them.
