Any thoughts on the Newmar DC UPS: StartGuard to eliminate the voltage drop to my instruments that I'm getting when I start the engine? I know I need to replace many of the terminal lugs on my boat, but even after that I'm still worried the drop out will be an issue.

There are other solutions (dedicated battery, switch systems, etc.) but this seems pretty easy, if a bit pricey.

It is essentially a relay tied to the starter motor solenoid button which transfers the electronics to the very small internal battery while starting, then switches back. Keep in mind that the batteries inside the unit last about 4-5 years. You can always shut down the electronics when starting too. If the house bank is sufficiently sized it is usually best to address the underlying issue of why the electronics are dropping out. Even at 50% DOD most house banks won't drop instruments if wiring is sufficiently sized and the wiring is done correctly....

Thanks! That gives me even more reason to upgrade the wiring and lugs. Great video, also. Everytime I read or view one of your presentations I learn a little bit more. Very much appreciated!
