Although have sailed, this is 1st time buyer. Looking at used Catalina 22. Nameplate on transom says it's a Catlina Morgan Capri. Suppose to be about 2 or 3 years old. It doesn't look like the Capri in the Catalina official website. It has two plexiglass windows on both sides, not one like they show with Capri's. It has a wing-keel. And doesn't look like it is rigged with a backstay. Anyway any one know how this handles? Is the wing keel as stable as a full keel and less than water ballasted models? Comes with a fairly new trailer with extendable tongue (which I believe I'll need). Asking $11k. Is that a good price? It's a bare bones model, nothing fancy with standard features (Slide out galley, porta potty, cockpit cushions..that's it!). Any comments on using this for coastal crusing would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and have a great day!

Go for a 27

For that kind of $$$ I would look for a 27 ft. if you are going to coastal cruise. Many more ammenities and standing head room. You don;t really want to weekend on a 22 ft boat unless you are related to those cute little munchkins from Wizard of OZ. Granted it would probably be a 1987 or so but would be much better for a weekend with the hot/cold water/refer ect. I used to have an O'day 22 and I think folks get rid of them in a year or two and move up.
