Newbie purchasing first boat - 1975 25'

I'm purchasing my first boat, a 1975 25'. Starting out with a broken hatch over v-berth. Is this a trapezoidal shape? Does anyone know the measurements on this? Any trouble spots to look for? Hull and deck are sound, needs work in the cabin and probably a bottom job. Any suggestions on barrier and bottom paint? Sail in Narragansett Bay in RI. Looking to rebuild a nice galley. What material should I use to replaced the bulkhead with? Any suggestions for repainting the metal toe rail?
