Hi everyone! After lurking on here on and off for about a year, I'm finally going to introduce myself and participate/bug people with questions on here. Co-owner of a 2011 Beneteau 37 "Coriolis" out of Upper Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay. I've been sailing most of my life (~20 years) and learned a lot of it from my father, though I'm no pro by any means. My family's first boat was a 1965 Pearson Triton that we had before the 37. It was rough and had engine troubles, but taught me a good amount about sailing. Anyways, this spring will be the first time for some of the bigger maintenance tasks like bottom painting, so I'm probably going to have some questions eventually. Seems like a pretty helpful forum with lots of knowledge!

Ditto welcome Sean. I too am a new owner of a '12 Bene 37 a bit south of you on the Chesapeake. Moved from a Catalina 310 last year. A great upgrade in sailing qualities not to mention space!

Hi Sean. Welcome. I see you are up the Sassafrass ... beautiful river.

I too sail the Chessy in my B393 (2003 model).

While I have been sailing a long time, I found that some courses were helpful for filling in the gaps of my knowledge. Some of these gaps I was not even aware of. I took classes with a local US Power Squadron (yes, they include sailors) and found the course work and the experience of the instructors to be quite good. I even joined as a member and volunteer with it (it's a non-profit). Go to uspsd5.org for info.
