Just purchased a Vega and couldn't be happier with it. Thought I would carry on the conscientious maintenance routine of the previous owners and got right to work on changing oil filters and so forth. Finally figured out where the impeller was on the engine, got it opened up and replaced. Puzzling out how the pieces fit back together, wouldn't you know I dropped part of the cover and it dove straight into the bilge. It was the triangular piece that goes over the cover to help hold the salt water intake hose in place on the original MD6A.
I had no luck getting at it using what I had on board and am preparing for a recovery mission this weekend. Thought I'd turn to the experts for suggestions before I get to work fabricating my own recovery device. The 2" piece is just visible in the bilge when the guck isn't all churned up.
Don't worry - got a few good sails in before disabling the engine!
