"Sure - Rub it in" :cussing:- - - I live in Rhode Island and this is the view from my front door right now. The misserable white stuff is coming down at a rate of two to three inches an hour. While your sailing and basking in the warm sunshine, I'm stoaking the fireplace and deciding when to fire-up the snow blower. I just have to keep saying, "I retire to Florida in five years - it's only five more years of this misery". Nah, that doesn't help - I hate the winter, it's like getting a four month ennima once a year. That's just one mans opinion.:snooty:

Enjoy the sail Buddy!

Musta just started! All you have there is a dusting. Sweep it away with a broom. We have a lot of clouds and winds like crazy.

It is going to be in the 70's today and looks like it is going to hold over through the weekend. I have Friday off, so I am off to Catalina Island on the boat tomorrow. Winters with NO WHITE STUFF is the only reason to live out here!

I put on a black t-shirt this morning but it's too hot so I'm putting on a white one for the afternoon... Bummer, yeah? It's 82F here in my pilot house in La Paz as I type but it was a chillllly 60 this morning. :)

For all You Guys up North it Could be Worse!

It is gourgeous here today but my wife won't let me go out and "play". She is making me clean my den and help her with the rest of the house as we have folks coming over for dinner tonight.

Our new years eve tradition, once again!

We have our dock party tonight! We meander from boat to boat noshing (a good NY word, right Seadaddler?) and enjoying the beverage of choice. This year we have fireworks every hour from 8 till midnight, as our city has a "first night celebration". It's family oriented (no alcohol) so everyone can enjoy the New Years safely.

i am occasionally guilty of picking on those that don't actually SAIL their boats, and today's the day i feel guilty using terms like "marina queen", cuz it's those folks that REALLY put on a feast! I love those showoffs!!

Nick, welcome to the land of winter sailing! And to all the rest, whatever your weather, enjoy the new year, and be safe...

Sailed the last Day of The Year

Well I took my last sail of the year today...shucks!

Nice wind did 7.0 knots with just the head sail on my 356

Looks like tomorrow I will start the year with my 1st sail for 2009, although it will be very windy and only 60-65 degrees.

But I guess we have to be tough in northern Florida

And yes FT.Peirce is a great spot, we have been out of there several times . We took a 13 foot Boston Whaler Thu the canals of FT. Lauderdale and had a ball looking at the Yachts . Well reality xusks ,we landed at Logan to 16 degrees and wind blown snow .Welcome back !

I moved to Vero Beach from Wisconsin a little over a year ago, and have no desire to even go back and visit. (unless it's summer) Florida is a permanent vacation.

We Floridians don't swim this time of the year, the water is to cold. Don't worry Nick you'll adapt quickly enough.

Reminds me of when I was a kid and had my cousins from Florida visiting. It was June, and only about 75˚...and we were going to the beach...and they were dressed up in sweats and such... and they were afraid to go in the water cause it was such a cold day... LOL... wimps... if we waited until it was 95˚ to go swimming, we'd swim about a day a year. ;)
