Hi, new to the forum and a new owner of a 2001 Hunter 240. Hopefully you guys can help with a few random questions I have.
- Where can I find a cockpit dining table pedestal?
- Any place to buy tinted plexiglass port windows or best to have them made at a glass shop?
- Suggestions for sailing lessons in Pensacola/Navarre/Fort Walton?
Thanks.

This site has the pedestal
Are the port windows the "opening" type or "fixed" The opening type are best purchased as the sizes are pretty standard. the fixed ones are a pit more complicated as you would have to either cut out your own or have somebody do that for you and then they will need a template. The template would be the old port which would leave you with no port for a time....
I would read "Chapmans Piloting" before I took any lessons.

Bill, thanks, didn't find the pedestal with a parts search so I'll call the store on Monday, fixed ports, so looks like I'll be getting a new one cut from using the old one as a template. Thanks again.

Lanier sails Catalina 25's, I think. Don't be afraid to start out on your on, though. I learned how to sail my H26 in Big Lagoon on my on after reading up on the basics. I started out on weekday mornings because there were fewer witnesses! ?

I am not sure what is available down there, but here in Muskegon, one of the local sailing places offers lessons on your own boat for $150 per six hours, which is mighty handy for both A) learning things you might want to know about the area you are sailing in (i.e. where you do and don't want to go) and B) learning how to sail your boat, not some other boat. If you can find something like this, I would highly recommend it - my wife and I found it very helpful.

Originally, the 23.5 came with a cockpit table and an aluminum leg stored inside. If you see an unusal oblong storage area in the V berth, that is where the table use to be stored. With the 240, the same molds were used but enhanced on the new requirements for the 240. This was to save cost on making completely new molds as that is a very expensive process. If this site's store does not sell anything for that, you will have to make your own.

As for the tinted lexan, never use acetone at all on any type of plastic but only alcohol. Sometimes I even used moonshine and that worked better but of course I had a supply as I used to make some but not for sale.

If looking for lexan, I would suggest asking a boat yard to see if they have any scraps that are big enough as a whole sheet of it or 4 X 8 can be expensive.

I would highly recommend taking sailing lessons form Emerald Coast Yachts at Pensacola Beach.

Rick and Peggy VanSleen are extremely nice and very good instructors.

Thanks for all the information and offer to go sailing. Signed up for lessons with Lanier. As for this weekend, taking the boat to have a little maintenance done but certainly appreciate the offer.
