Links: I use them all the time, as you may have noted. But sometimes I think doing what you propose is like reinventing the wheel. Most skippers i know already have their own. For starters, try this:

and

http://c34.org/bbs/index.php/topic,6437.0.html which links to links

I keep up with a few blogs, like a C36 skipper who is doing FL to MA and back, and Sequitur. Otherwise, there are some links that folks contribute here to great writeups by experienced sailors like Chuck Bear and some electrical gurus. I bookmark them if I find them helpful technically.

But your enthusiasm is wonderful.

Good luck with your site.

Reduce photo resolution for much quicker page loading! Most photos taken with a digital camera create jpg files of 2+ MB which can take a long time to display, especially if the site visitor is on a slower Internet connection. The main reason for the huge file size is the photo's original resolution, which is great for printing, but way too high for website purposes.

I use a free app called FastStone Image Viewer which will batch convert photos from high resolution (color depth of 16.7 million or 24-bit) to the highest resolution a typical browser can display (color depth of 256 or 8-bit). This reduces the typical file size of 2.0MB to a much faster-loading 250KB without losing any viewable image quality.

I've been creating websites and cloud systems for many years now, and would be happy to answer any questions you may have now or in the future. Best of luck!
