We have a brand new H380. This spring we commissioned our water tank as you have been recommending for years; in fact, we have always used this process on our boats with great success. However, with the new boat (tank) there remains a lingering strong taste to the water. I think it might be from the plasticizers in the tank material. So, the question is how do we make our water taste less strong? Thanks. S/V NEVERMORE

Did you....

run about three tanks of water through the system making sure that each and every tap was running. If not, you may not have removed all the Pink stuff that the factory uses to pressure test the system with. Granted I havn't tasted the water out of tanks as I normally carry drinking water seperate from the water carried on board. Regards. Bruce. Neon Moon

Try recommissioning again, but this time...

use about 1/2 the recommended dose of bleach and flush the system completely a couple more times than necessary to get rid of the bleach taste/smell. If that doesn't work, it may be necessary to replace the tank...it's rare, but every now and then one comes out of a mfr that hasn't been properly cured for water holding. It takes a bit longer than sewage holding...and it can happen with any mfr when production gets slammed and they get rushed.
