Hi All,
Have been monitoring this site for a few years, and
since I'm a new Vega owner, I thought I should
introduce myself to the group. I like the
comments, information and the helpfulness of you all,
and have learned a lot.Last fall I bought Vega #2933
in the Solomons and brought her back to S-E Ohio so I
can restore her.I'm 65, retired, and should have the
time to work on her. Sailed most of my life, mostly on
Lake Erie, but never sailed a heavier boat than a 20'
Ensenada, that I owned for over 20 years. Also I have
limited experience on the seas(Keys,Marathon area),and
know very little about diesels. If I spend a lot of
time and money on #2933(don't have a name yet)it would
be wise to learn from someone with exrerience on how
to handle her.
1.If someone needs an extra pair of hands over the
next year or so and is willing to teach me the
"ropes",I would not only appreciate it,I'm willing to
pay for it.
2.If someone is changing over to roller furling and
has a hanked on working jib in good working
condition,I'm interested in buying it(the boat came
with a main,storm,genoa,light air genoa,but no regular
jib).
I will need a lot of things while I'm working on my
Vega, parts, advice, etc.I hope as I progress I will not
only ask for advice but can give some as well.
Thanks,
Emil Nagy
Athens,Ohio.
