I would appreciate comments and recommendations on the installation of an AC versus a DC TV set on my C350.

LCD

Skip The main point is that reception will vary from area to area. When I brought my C380 it had a AC-DC Television installed, sometimes it was a great picture and others terrible, so I decided to get a LCD,( AC Only ) that was no better, then I went back to the store and asked how to improve the picture, they said all LCD's must have a top box digital reciever ( thanks for telling me ) This has made a huge difference and the picture is fantastic. I am still getting areas that drop out but I think I need set the top box to recieve stronger signals in these bad areas. Make sure you get a good Inverter if you go for an AC only TV.

LCD TV

I have a C350 and I installed a 19" widescreen LCD near the nav station running on AC only. It works great with DirecTV, which I have mounted on the stern rail. The receiver/DVR I placed in the aft locker where I mounted a shelf. I ran a remote IR eye from the unit to the main salon so I can change channels/record with the remote control. I've thought about using an inverter, but when I'm out anchoring (or moored), I prefer reading anyway. Greg Irie Life - C350 #209 Sailing out of NYC

Monitor and video processor

I mounted a Viewsonic 15inch monitor with a Viewsonic NextVision N5 video processor. It acts as a TV & tuner, laptop monitor or DVD monitor. My only issue is I can only use it when connected to shore power. I was thinking about using a ac/dc inverter, but the output from both monitor and video processor power supplies is 12 volt. It seems silly to go from 12 volt thru the inverter to 110 volt and back thru the power supplies to 12 volt again...

LCD TV

I installed a Sharp 13" LCD tv. I purchased a 150 watt dc/ac pure sine wave inverter that coupled with a power antenna on the very top of my mast gets great reception.

Possible Variant

If you intend to use a top mast antena you may find the need for a signal booster which is AC (Iam not aware of any DC signal boosters) which means you will need a small pocket inverter to power that if you want to use the TV while on the hook. Just a thought
