I just purchased a 1988 H333. I look forward to learning from you and sharing some of my experiences. my first order of business is locating a Manual. Is there one free to download somewhere? I have seen some online manual suppliers. should I use one of them? thanks ! and please excuse me if this is already addressed and I missed it. Joe W

Perhaps here, although I don’t see a file listed as 333. Hunter model numbers are sort of confusing but perhaps you could find the one that is for your boat :)

Welcome to the forum! Lots of good info in the “Downloads” section. Much of the gear on your boat will have user guides posted in there.

Hi Joe, welcome to SBO and all the fun we have. Noticed there is an H333 listed in Boater Info with two articles, one dealing with owners manual. Might be of some help here: Hunter 333 Owner Modifications and Upgrades

Please keep us posted on how your new love works out for you; sail plans, cruises, experiences, etc.

Joe,
Welcome to the forum!
Something seems amiss; I had a 1988 Hunter 33.5. Didn't think that there was a 333 during that year.
Apparently, you will be Kloudie's close by neighbor; he is one of the best Hunter authorities around and a great resource. Hope to see you on the Pontchartrain! :)

To Terry and the Moderator:
I've clicked on the link:
Hunter 333 Owner Modifications and Upgrades
but I can't see any data/info.
What am I missing?
I’m not Terry or the moderator :) but there really isn’t much usable data in the 333 area. The two items linked for mods appear to be failed attempts to post info about a Beneteau. The downloads section is empty, there is one review and a list of owners so not much help to anyone looking there.

Joe,
I did a cursory bit of research on the "333" after looking at the photos of your boat on Yacht Trader. The Hunter 34 was the predecessor to the Hunter 33.5. The 33.5 models were introduced sometime in 87 and production ran into 95 with some modifications along the way, such as a swim platform around 1990. The photos of your boat (posted on Yacht Trader) are exactly the same as my 88 Hunter 33.5. So for all practical purposes, you have a 33.5. All of the manuals, etc. for the 33.5 should match your boat. It is a mystery as to why the boat is classified as a 333. Things to look out for are rotted wood internal compression post and leaking chain plates that rot the internal bulkhead where they terminate inside the cabin. Also hull blistering and rusting keel.
I really enjoyed my boat over the 5 or 6 years that I had it. It was severely damaged during Katrina and totaled. So, check out the resources for the 33.5 on the forum and that should provide the information that you are looking for. Good Luck and congratulations on the new boat.

Apparently when the boat was first introduced, they didn,t know what to brand it??? Warren Luhrs describes it as a Hunter 333 (fall '87),
the brochure is labeled Hunter 33.5, and the photo has 333 on the sail. For whatever reason, 33.5 was the winner. Maybe to keep the designation consistent with the other 0.5 boats in the lineup.

To Terry
Agree, not much there other than the idea that the H333 is identified as a Hunter boat model. Perhaps, as others have replied, Hunter did a model mod mid production year. Whether the H333 is actually the H33.5, no idea.

thanks BigEasy. sorry you lost your boat to the bitch named Katrina. found manuals for the 333 at the page for H33.5. (one simple manual is for multi-models, including 333!). and the manual for 33.5 looks like much of the information will cross over to a 333.
I appreciate your help and your comments about things to be looking at. have a deck plate that leaks. will tend to that very soon.

Hi Joe,
Welcome and congrats
You have a mystery Hunter on this forum. The 1988 hunter 333 and hunter 33.5 are the second generation of the Hunter 34. The Hunter 333 and the h33.5 both are basicly the same boat and were part of the legend series. The mystery is that the h333 doesn't seem to have existed on this forum or in the Hunter archives. Literature can be found on the h333 and it has been suggested that the h333 was marked in the uk as the h333 instead of the h33.5 for reasons that I am not aware. I believe that only I few were ordered to be shipped overseas.

Your boat is an awesome boat! I have a 1983 h34 which is basically the same boat hull as the h34. Your h333 probably has the new wing keel instead of the fin keel and fractional rig possiaby recessed roller furler system and modified bow pulpit.

I've sailed both boats and found Your Boat to be slightly less tender then mine, Both boats handle basically the same.
Again great boat! I believe that this forum has the manual for the h33.5 which is as I said is essentially the same boat. If you can't find it then the h34 is also the same boat as well except for the rigging being a fractional rig.

Great boat, enjoy it and again welcome aboard lots of great people on this forum with lots knowledge.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your notes. Didn’t know I had a unique boat. It is a wing keel. All the documentation refer to it as Hunter 333 and Built in FL but can’t recall name of city.
The boat will be lots of fun. No furling system. I downloaded the manual for 33.5. Compared to 333 specs, very minor differences in length, weight, beam, and mast height - wonder why Hunter would have two “nearly” identical boats?
