Last Spring I posted a thread in the “Trailer Sailor” section about replacing my trailer tires with a higher load range. The responses got way out of hand – so I decided to post an update here.
Tires were old, needed replacing. We haul our boat quite a long ways in the summer.
Ended up buying 15” carlisle load range “D” tires (and new wheels).
Had to raise the fender some – which was a chore.
Hauled the boat last summer from Oregon to the North end of Vancouver Island and back.
I had a much higher comfort level with those new tires. We had always ran between 6,000 and 6,500 lbs, which is close to max on the set of 14” load range “C” tires.
Worth while if your having to replace tires.
