I just made a new Tiller for my H22 and thought I'd share the photo with anyone that's interested in making their own. Of course I could have bought one but I decided to make one myself. I used (3) 1" thick pieces of White Ash which I laminated together with a polyurethane glue. I laminated the wood by opposing the grain in each piece to eliminate warping. The curve was traced from the original Tiller, however, I'm not sure if it was the original equipment, as there were, it seemed, to few too many washers used as spacers. I also decided to flare the end as it just seemed to keep your hand from sliding off. My tiller is as wide and as high as possible to fit comfortably in the tiller mount. I used several coats of boiled linseed oil, oil stain and several coats of a spar urethane. You can also see the condition of the cockpit table when I bought this boat which severely weathered and damaged where it was submerged in the cockpit. I had to replace a few pieces but after some considerable sanding, I was able to salvage it. The table was finished with several coats of teak oil.
