Bought a 1988 240 sight unseen. Sales are trash. Suggestions on vendors that can help with new head sail and main?

My preference would be North Sail. Reach out to the loft and ask them to measure your boat for the sails.

If you have the measurements another option if to order them online. Precision Sail is one source.

Hi, Bill! Glad to see you one this meeting place.

My first question is where are you? Lake Perry, KS, or Erie, PA?

If the latter, there are sailmakers near you and I would recommend you check them out in person. My sailmaker in Cleveland has been a great advisor when I need advice on sails for my boat. He came aboard and measured the rig, and we had great discussions about what sails I needed to realize our cruising objectives. Then, he is available by phone or in person when I need changes, repairs, or replacement sails (at 10 year intervals) This relationship has paid off on the price differential over an online loft, and I always recommend considering it.

If you are on Lake Perry, though, there may not be a local sailmaker. You do have a well known boat, and it's not hard to measure it yourself. So in that case, I would go ahead with an online loft like Precision Sail. You could also focus our responses from those who (unlike me) have experience with online lofts.

I'm biased towards finding a US source. I make sails with Sailcrafters in Minneapolis sailcrafters.com, and we do not restrict ourselves geographically because shipping works! We are affiliated with UK Sailmakers and have made sails into the 40 footer range. We can answer virtually any question you might have. Give us a look!
PS I just looked at the site and note it could use an update! Our sails for quite some time have come with the "UK Sailmakers" logo!:)
