New Sailer - Mastjack Confusion

O'Day Javelin Cadillac
I'm a new owner of an Oday Javelin looking to take it out for the first time this weekend. I have absolutely no experience with sailboats before now.

When I bought the Javelin at the end of last fall, the seller was extremely patient in walking me through the different steps to raising and dropping the mast and the general principles of sailing. Between that and the owner's manual I thought I would be doing quite well, but now that it comes time to raise the mast for the first time by myself I'm having trouble remembering where to operate the mast jack.

The manual states that it's directly underneath the hole in the deck and that I'm supposed to be sticking a mast jack handle into a hole in a screw nut to raise/lower the mast.

When I look in the cuddy and down, though, all I see is a hitch pin holding the base in place. The plate on the bottom of the mast (the tabernacle, I think? ) and the plate that it attaches to don't seem to have any holes or screw nuts that fit the description. I also can't figure out what/where the mast jack handle is. After spending the better part of an afternoon looking at the boat and google, the internet has completely failed in getting some help on this.

Any links to videos showing this in good detail, or pictures of the mast jack handle, the screw nut and the surrounding area would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Are you sure the boat still has a mast jack?? You description sounds like the mast jack (if there originally was one?) has been removed and a standard mast step added, then a hinge (tabernacle) was added to the mast just above the deck. Below is a picture of a Mast Jack like the older Javelins and Day Sailers had, and a picture of what I suspect the wrench would look like. I have also posted the installation/operation instructions for the optional hinge for reference.
I suspect that the manual that you were given is for an older year of Javelin than your boat?

Thank you for the pictures!!

We'd already started to think similarly, that either the manual was for a different model or it has been modified. There is a tabernacle and there are turnbuckles at the end of the head and side stays, so we've set it up and adjusted those until the mast was upright and tensions were even. We didn't get a manual from the owner. I started looking online, and this is the only manual I've been able to find online so far:

https://sbo.sailboatowners.com/downloads/Oday_Javelin_95217156.pdf

There are also no blocks on the aft of the ship for the main sheet, just a double-cam action cleat on the centerboard trunk, and only one block on the end of the boom at the top, so now I'm doing some research on how to rig the main sheet and outhaul properly. Starting to wish this had a model number so I could find the proper manual for it, but I'm also enjoying the "adventure".

Your boat must be newer than January 1974, as the mainsheet was changed at that time to mid-boom (Day Sailer and Mariner changed same time)
You have given enough info that I can figure vintage of the boat, I started to make up an Expanded JAVELIN manual a few years ago, but at the time there was already one on-line and I didn't go further. But I do have copies of the original O'DAY Rigging sheet that should match your boat. I'll scan it and try to post. (I just checked the "Downloads" page for the Javelin, turns out that I had posted the 1966 vintage and 1971 vintage instructions, I now have copies of the mid-1970s version.) I had to scan the 11" x 17" sheet as 4 parts, but it should help.
