I have a 26d, 1988. I need to build a new rudder. I have seen some designs with a block of some sort on the tiller perhaps, anyway the idea was if you hit something the rudder would pop up. I also want to reduce the weather helm and make the foil as long as practical but narrow. I saw some designs a few years ago but cannot find them now. Also there are free programs somewhere to work out the shape of the foil. I have been looking on the internet and the ones that I find want big money for them. The tiller is much lighter to handle no more pressure on my arm to fight the tiller thanks the the perfect NACA foil shape. They are undestructable and the craftsmanship is flawless. I know it is a few $$$ but it is an investment for peace of mind and safety. I did the modification to the rudduer so it will auto-kick up if I hit something and it works fine. it is easy to re arm and reset you back on your way.
