Is there anyone dumber than a sailor dedicated to his/her boat? I just drove 1900 miles to spend three days with Ladylove. Two of those days were twelve hour work-a-thons. The third day was installing a new rudder, launching, bobbing in the middle of the Neuse river when the stuffing box unscrewed itself, and, having lost the GPS and with no charts, trying to find the entrance to Clubfoot Creek ten miles away in zero visibility. Both dumb AND embarrassing! :naughty:
Now she sits alone, all clean and waxed, new bottom-paint, new rudder, and with the “lost” prop reinstalled. You may recall the story of losing the 3-blade folder in the Erie Canal which was posted months ago. The bent rudder and shaft strut are newer stories but now in the history book. If you are ever near the Pamlico Sound I can highly recommend the Sailcraft boatyard. Good workers and the nicest people. Just don’t move the poppits yourself trying to get ahead on painting under them. They do not like that!
