Jim and Gale took these pictures the other day from their sailboat of me sailing.
I had just rolled up my asym in a 15 knot wind with my new Rolgen, worked very good, works better than the ATN sock.
I then sailed the rest of the day with my 135 foresail in 15 to 25 knot wind.

Great pictures, I think that you have the tack on the anchor roller bail right?
We have #272 based in St. Simons, Ga. And I noticed something in the pictures that sparked one of "those" memories.
My wife and I had been out playing with our spinnaker, with sock. After dropping the spinnaker I simply clipped the halyard to the bail on the anchor roller. Back in the cockpit, I tugged the halyard up then unrolled the genoa. No mainsail up because we wanted to concentrate on the spinnaker. We sailed out of the bay and up the intercoastal a little ways. Going along, port tack, close reach, maybe a half mile from a bridge. We needed to head up some more to get to the bridge, and I wasn't comfortable trying to sail under the bridge. So... crank engine, snug up the wheel brake, wife is below so I'll just reach over with both hands ease sheet with one and furl with the other. This is when it gets fun. I dont know the brake isn't working, so as the headsail luffs the boat turns up more into the wind. What's going on? Better roll this sail up quick. On about the second rotation of the furler, the halyard tries to roll up into the sail, stopping the furler. I can't see the halyard, it was not that far from the forestay anyway. After several anxious minutes, with my wife's help, we unfurled the sail and moved th halyard back behind the mast where we usually store it.
Lessons learned: After dropping the spinnaker through the foreward hatch, take the halyard back and put it away.
Peroidically check the setscrews holding the chain sprocket onto the steering shaft.

The sprocket us keyed to the shaft, so the boat will still steer. The setscrews just take the load from the brake.

Anyway, all this was triggered from seeing your headsail ever so gently laying against the furled spinnaker. I think the furler is great though, I wish I had one for ours. Although our ATN sock is great.

Thanks, Tom

Rollgen dimensions

The Rollgen sounds great. Could you tell me the dimensions for the stay? How long is it?

Thanks

Keith:)
You measure from your existing spinnaker crane, on top of mast, to where you want to attch the the stay on the deck.
I attached mine to the anchor bale. then using the instructions from rollgen you calculate how long of cable you need. When the kit comes the cable is longer so you can cut and measure and install at the same time while measuring final length of cable.
You can download installation instructions from Rollgen.
I can show some pictures if you like.:troll:

Hi Paul,

I was also planning to attach it to the anchor bale on my 310. I just wanted to compare my measurement to yours.

Thanks,

Keith
