Looking for drawing or pictures of new rigging technique for main sail coming straight down from boom rather than running to stern.

Are you looking for information on main sheet similar to the Day Sailer II's with the center boom setup?

Here is a picture of my DS2 cockpit.

You might also want to check the Day Sailer forum at http://www.daysailer.org/

I like John's mainsheet set-up. I have something similar to it on my O'Day 222 only I have my mainsheet mounted on a Harken Traveler.
If you have any marine consignment stores in your area you can buy the two fiddle blocks real cheap and make up a mainsheet yourself with some 5/16" braid line. One of the fiddle blocks needs to have a cam cleat attached to it or a provision for the cam cleat. If I remember correctly, my mainsheet blocks has a single sheave on one block and a double sheave on the other block.

My Boom vang has two sheaves on each fiddle block with the cam cleat mounted on the lower block. Both the mainsheet and the Boom Vang have the same size fiddle blocks and braid line thickness.
The cam cleats are generally bolted to the bottom of the block and you have the option of inverting it so that the cleat locks the rope in either the up position or the down position.
I mounted my traveler on a Teak 2X4 and bolted it to the cockpit seats.

Yah, the traveler can get in the way sometimes but the advantages of better sail trim and point-ability out weigh the inconvenience of having to step over it once in a while.

I hated that mainsheet to the backstay set up and I don't miss it one bit on my boat.

The Day Sailer I as originally set up has the mainsheet attached to end of the boom, then goes down to a block on the deck in the stern, over to a block on the other side, then up to a block on the boom, along the boom to a block at mid boom and then down to a block on the end of the centerboard trunk which is also where the cam cleat is located. The Day Sailer II (like mine) had the the mid boom arrangement with the fiddle blocks and the cam cleat end on the end of the centerboard trunk. As I recall, the main sheet length for the DS1 is 48' for use with the original configuration. The DS2 uses about 35' for the mid boom configuration. The specs call for 5/16" mainsheet line, but I went with 3/8" when I replaced mine.

Under the technical section of the Day Sailer forum I think there is a copy of the owners manual.
