The wife bought me a new radio. Yaesu FT-857D to replace my fledging Kenwood TS-50. Now I can play with the TS-50 and maybe try and figure out what is going on with the VCO.

The FT-857D is a nice rig. Removable head, small footprint, quad-band, one power setting but adjustable, memory channels with names. And there is more that I haven't yet discovered. Audio sounds good and I am assuming the mic audio is OK as I haven't been told that there are issues.

Whoot! LOL

Karl, I still need to pull the mast and install a couple of halyards. Then I can install an alternate backstay antenna. That is in the future sometime. However, I do have my 20 meter vertical dipole that I can use. One day. LOL

Ah... been on the air maybe 20 times already. Local QSOs and two nets, MMSN (14300) and BAJA (7233.5). Ooh she works nicely. :)
