I'd like to replace at least some of the original ports on my '76 O'Day 25 with new ones that open. Beckson makes some self-drain opening ports that look decent and are more affordable than others I've seen. Does anyone have any recommendations? Will it be a problem fitting new ones into the old openings?

Old Ports?

Eric, I'm not planning on installing different ports, but I've been interested in a while in repairing mine (some plastic trim is breaking, screws are stripped, etc). However, I've been afraid of removing them, because they don't appear to leak. I'd be interested in your old ones, so I can see how they're built and possibly use some of the old parts. My boat is also a 76 O'Day 25. You can reach me off forum at hparsons@parsonsys.com

When you replaced your ports did you have to do extensive cutting to make them fit?? Or did some model fit for each window??

i put the ports on my mac 23, however, the ports all show the hole size needed to fit the port. in my case the worst fit required a trim of about one inch longer than the old opening. beckson also offers a larger solid port for bigger windows that has a port mounted in it. i have no liner so cutting was no problem, except for 'glass dust'. since i live alone, the hardest part was bolting everything together. been on for over 10 years and still no leaks.

shocking

Would anyone beleive that the ports are cheaper at WM than on the Beckson web site? Shocking.
