I think the main contender for a Windvane on a Vega has been left out and
that is the Navik Windvane. Easy to fit, works great, cost effective and
many Vgeas have them fitted. I have no connection with the Navik but belive
me they certainly work. Even Lars Lemby was impressed on his trip to Hoorn
in Diana Webb's Vega "Bugle". He was sure that it was not up to the job
until trying it. then he agreed it is a good workhorse.

Thanks for your response Steve, I have updated the list to include it
and a few others. Please vote again. By the way, does the Navik
perform in light air, downwind also. Up to how light in your
experience? They all seems so expensive!! Do you know anyone who have
used the Windpilot Pacific Light? I have seen one picture of a vega
at their site (www.windpilot.com) with one but I have no idea how
well (or not!) they work.

Hi Emile

They work great in all airs. Obviously not as good in downwind light airs
but that is the same with all wind steering. As they have a double servo
system with a trim tab built in they need so little effort. Great to fit
and wonderful to watch them working. I spent a whole day this year on The
Solent just wathcing to see the actual mechanics. The cost of these is
about £1200 which brings it out at about the chaepest around. "Lornd Doone"
used one when circum-navigating the world and had nothing but praise. Hope
this helps in some way.

See ya

I thought the poll might lighten thinbgs up a bit..... Most have said "A
bit of fun" Obviously not to everyones taste. I have posted wuite a few
bits of technical matters, answering and hopefully helping lots of Vega
owners worldwide - Just thought a little bit of fun would be appreciated?
Even my wifethought it amusing!

Regards to all

Oh come on guys, lighten up. Just think, in a few short months you'll
be sailing again.

Lighten up Vegans. Steve is a good guy, and a valuable Vega resource, and is entitled to the utmost courtesy, even if you don't appreciate his British sense of humor. Of course, there are those who say the British have no sense of humor. However, that is an exaggeration. I believe they do, but it just isn't obvious.

Churchill said we were two nations divided by a common language. I wonder what he would have said about the differences in our humor.

Hi George,

We have a few things in common. Property in Co. Galway, Co Limerick Wives
and now I have a Vega practically bought. Or should the list be in reverse
order?

The Vega, of course. That's probably why I don't have a wife. Damn. No sex
either. But what do I know...
