I just purchased an 85 Catalina 22 and was wondering about having the boat repainted. I see where some people had mentioned a particular paint to use but is it sprayed on by a shop or did they roll it on themselves? I'm cutting all new vinyl myself so it looks nice after I finish waxing. I just thought I would check into a fresh paint job.

I would consider buffing the gelcoat first. Is there any paint on the boat already, or is it just faded gel? Assuming just gel, study this post re: buffing and waxing: http://forums.catalina.sailboatowners.com/showthread.php?t=117266
The owner started waxing the boat which you can see the difference from the picture. Thanks for the link and response. I will read more into this. I do think it is the original paint.
