Ron, if you go to the homepage of this webpage, and go down almost tot he bottom, click on "The Boats", and you will find a number of photos and owner descriptions of the H 18.5. I own one and sail out of Geneva, Ohio on Lake Erie. I've only had it for a couple of summers, but the more I sail it the more I like it. I do not like its trailering potential, though, and my suggestion is to find a place to dock it and leave the boat in the water. The fixed keel, mine is a winged fixed keel, means that she sits very high on the trailer, and that, to me, makes her hard to rig. I intend to make her easier to sail solo by installing a furling jib, bringing the main halyard back to the cockpit by installing an organizer on the deck and a downhaul for the mainsail. If you want more information please email me -- 210_100_lib@neomin.ohio.gov Good luck with the boat, and I hope you enjoy her. Regards, Peter S/V Katy Kaye

I agree with Peter. It's much easier to leave her in the water but don't let that bother you. The problem now is, is the boat worth the price of new rigging? The original riggin should be z-spar. Try rig-rite.com and they should have the info you need. It won't be cheap! Maybe some substitute from a salvage yard can be used instead. (Maybe after this hurricane, you can have mine cheap: knock on wood). Once you get that done, get a trailer tongue extension OR weld a hitch on a piece of tube stock that is about 4 feet longer than the extendable hitch piece that's on the trailer now. This will allow you to keep you butt dry and your boat deep in the water. The one good thing about a shoal draft keel is no swing keel problems and makes the boat a little safer. Give me a holler if you interested...Scott Thompak@Worldnet.att.net
