just purchased a 1993 hunter 23.5 and i have a rectangular cover of the same material as my main sail cover and do not know what it is far. it is about 6' x 3' with snaps at the corners. I also do not have any poles for and i have two holes on my slide for my hatch.cover that i do not know what that is for either? I assume they may be related any help would be good.

Not much to see just rectangular. I saw a picture of a 23.5 that looked like it had a dogger but the hatch was folded open and under it I think that is what it is but I must be missing the frame and part of the cover may be deteriorated.

Hatch Cover
There is a companion way cover for the 23.5 and this might be what you have. When you fully open the companion way hatch, it can be lifted up. There should be props on both sides that will swing down and hold it up. Those two holes are for a frame that supports front of the cover. The cover should fit over this frame and the hatch when it is up and the snaps should snap around the sides and back. If that is what the canvas is for it should be obvious when you try to fit it on but you will need the fron support tube or you will have to get a new one made.

Ok let respnd to this one as I know what it is. Generally, there is a camper top to go over the companionway with the slider hatch all the way back and proped up in the 45% angle. It has sides with windows.
The other is a companionway cover to cover the entire top of the conpanionway to help rain from coming in. It does not have the sides with windows, frame nor a roll down flap.
It appears that you have the companionway cover and when in use, please put a throwable cushion underneath it to help deflect water off from pooling up in the center.
