I realize you are looking for a deal but several things to keep in mind. First, do not forget about the shipping costs to you. Secondly, you will be second or third in line at a dealer and in many cases if warranty, they will tell you to send the motor back to whom it was purchased from. When I incurred a warranty when the motor was not purchased from me, my policy was to have the customer pay the bill and then any monies recieved would be refunded to him. In the first case, Tohatsu knew that customer and he was pulling a fast one on me. As for the second person, the carb had been worked on by a dealer in VA and by him as well. I told him my policy and he left without the motor being repaired only to find out that the motor had been worked on by non mfg. authorized personnel. Basically, most dealers will service what they sell but are reluctant to do so on motors bought on line. There is a question as to some of the motors being seconds. So when buying on line, this is food for thought,
remember that the small Nissan and Mercury engines are built by Tohatsu and are the same as well. Just look at the manuals and you will see what I am talking about.

Talk to Nick at Central Florida Yamaha. Best price I found on a 6HP Tohatsu (prosail - ultra long shaft) beats the prices at the two sites linked above but you have to call and ask for their pricing. Free shipping and no tax if you live outside of Florida (unfortunately that didn't help me). My last OB was a Honda 8hp and I was worried about switching brands but have been very happy so far. Admittedly I've only had it for 6 weeks but so far no complaints at all and their service was great. Order it by 3pm EST and they'll ship it out the next day. I ordered it on Wednesday at noon and was able to pick it up at the local warehouse on Friday rather than waiting for Monday delivery to my house. Good Luck!
You may want to consider a propane outboard, Lehr makes them. Eliminates the issues with fouled gas and carbs. If I needed a replacement I'd look hard at propane. The big issue on my H23 would be the gas locker (lazarette) - I don't think the larger, like 10 or 20 lb, tanks would fit vertically inside that locker, and no way I'd put them in the bilge lazarette. You can run these on smaller screw in propane tanks that give like an hour or two of running. Of course, it only works if you can get access to propane refills, whihc is easy for me on a lake. I would think that since a lot of cruisers have propane stoves that many marinas could refill the larger tanks.
