Good morning. This is my first post here, although I am not unfamiliar with the forum structure. I am a moderator on a different forum, and have been for about 8 years now.

My question to you fellow O'day owners out there... WHERE the heck can I find either used parts or new parts? I need to replace the storage hatch cover over the battery/gastank section of an O'day 22... and my googleFU is not what it normally seems to be. I keep getting all kinds of BOATS for sale... I never see anyplace that sells parts. and of course Ebay was worthless... :(

If anyone could steer me to the proper port for such things, I would be greatly appreciative!!!!

I look forward to hanging out here a bit more often...

I just hate that it seems like I am always getting the boat fiited out - ready for winter storage... LOL!!

Thanks again!!

Mike

Ask for Rudy at D&R Marine. He is the best source so far. Ebay is completely hit or miss, this year...it has been a miss so far.
For spar parts, check out rigrite.com.

In Scarborough, Maine --www.usedsailboatstuff.com (http://www.usedsailboatstuff.com/ EMAIL: info@usedsailboatstuff.com ) just opened up in Pine Point, Scarborough. 207-730-0181 or 207-730-1928. Owner is Rod Geant ( gant) . He is a breaker, and has parts for a number of Odays, Catalinas, Venture 24s, and other boats. He's small, is just starting out , and is 1/3 - 1/2 the price of new. Has hatch covers, interior parts, deck hardware, masts, booms, etc. Also has an Oday 25 RIGHT NOW ( 6.6.12) for $1200 - deck is good, needs bottom paint.

Your gas tank/battery compartment might not be an O'Day part. There was a company back in the 70's who made such an animal that are long gone. They were installed along the vertical surface of a cockpit in a spot other than where a seat locker would be. You might have to have one made up from scratch. That is something someone with fiberglass experience could do, or make it out of wood. If that be the case. Perhaps I am missing the point and you have something else.

Gas Tank locker became standard on the 22 in 1977. I'd check with Rudy at D&R, but a new hatch will not be cheap! Can you repair the original! Otherwise, GOOGLE used boat parts, there are a few "salvage" yards out there that sell used parts off totalled boats, unfortunately, not many....but they are out there!

Also, RigRite.com if you happen to have a Z-Spar mast rather than a DAMCO mast.

mike,

as an experienced moderator i am surprised that failed... to give all infomation to assist others in replying... D & R is best reached by phone... Rudy has reputation of very slooow replies to email. Do you have old lid? Or parts thereof? Most old boat owners need to learn how to work with FRP... As someone mentioned you may have to make your own... Your first try may not look like a new own ... but your second will be better...

Now is the time to have an older experienced FRP repair shop make one. Cost will be high but not impossible to deal with. Remember that ingredience have increased in cost dramatically...

And on this forum ask Keith for advice, he will present the liberal tome...

Nice site. I wish we had something like that in north GA! That oday looks like a great buy.
