New Mast Step

I'm looking for a new mast step with integral points to attach blocks for running the lines aft. Has anyone replaced their mast step? If so, can you provide a supplier and/or specs?

Thanks,
Jack

Search this list for Ballenger Spars and you should find a thread describing one possible solution. Craig

just made a teak n bronze collar. Think I put pics in the photo gallery of Good Things.

Not deployed yet, so no comment on performance. But looks good...

The collar sits above the deck plate so no need to lift the mast and it sits at the right height so that the blocks lead the lines right at the level of the cabin roof.

Wow, the teak and bronze collar looks great! Very nautical. How did/will you mount it? I'll probably stick with something I can purchase...I don't know that I have the facilities to bend and attach the bronze. Thanks for the Garhauer link, I had forgotten about them.

I only used a saber saw, hand sander, and drill to make it.
The bronze is sheet bronze made into a strap.
The teak is flooring, 4 sheets glued together as in plywood.

It is attached in the picture.
The forces acting on the collar will be pulling it apart towards the beam of the boat. Also forces toward the cockpit and upward toward the top of the mast.

The collar is shackled to the mast plate on deck with the eye bolts in the pic.
It is belted together with the bronze band and the eyebolts are through two metal straps. also to stop beamward forces.

The only force on the actual mast will be the pulling toward the cockpit.
