We finally rebuilt our 240's hull after Wilma meesed it up pretty good, the hull came better than new and the water ballast is perfect. I now need to replace the jib sail we have a CDI roller furling system that always got tangled we're debating about getting just a hank on jib, do I need to change out the front halyard or is it there fro me to hank on this new Jib. Will i be sorry and have to go up front everytime I need to raise the sail. It will probably be bbetter than the times it got tangled and I couldn't put the jib away. any feedback is appreciated Thanks Bob

You will have to go forward everytime (m)

But a sail of that size won't be much of a big deal. You can use a headsail bag for it and leave it hanked on but you'll still have to go forward to unsnap the bag and move the halyard to the jib (it is normally clipped to the bag to hold it off the deck). I'd seriously consider retaining the furling system and make sure the feed arm is at the correct angle leading out of the drum and to follow instructions on keeping light tension on the lines as you furl and unfurl. Goodluck.

think you will regret it, i thank the cdi god every time i use it and never (should i have said that) a problem and reefed it in later than i should have. don't think it was installed correctly. some will say hanking is the only fool proof way to get your sail in. good luck.

Tangled?

Mine has never failed no matter how hard it's blowing. Replaced the line to stop it from occaisionally jamming but that was an easy fix. Couldn't live without mine and couldn't imagine going forward everytime(which you'll have to do). Michael
