2 22 lake lanier
I recently acquired my first sailboat, which happens to be a 1985 hunter 22. It has been out of the water for the past 3 years sitting under a big oak tree, so it was a mess to say the least. I spent the day scrubbing her down, and it is amazing how some soap, bleach, water, and elbow grease can transform some fiberglass. Anyway, I have a couple of questions for you veteran hunter owners.

1) were can i find a replacement porthole light (the two that open)? One of them is cracked in a number of places, and I'm sure it leaks.

2) The u-bolt in the bow that attaches the boat to the trailer was basically just hanging there when I got the boat. It looks like a 1/4" by 1" bar of copper was used as the backing for this bolt. However, it looks like it broke. My questions is, is this the original setup, or was this someone trying to fix it? I want to repair it how it is supposed to be.

These were the only two things I couldn't find else were on the forum, but I'm sure I will think of other things as a move along. Thanks!

you should be able to get your ports here. At the top of the page, the second tab is parts. click parts...hatches, ports and vents.... you get the idea.

As far as the backer for your bow, I saw a post here recently where using a wooden block to disperse the load was mentioned. Anybody out there remember that?

My Hunter 26 had a piece of wood backing the bow eye. The wood collapsed under load. I replaced it with a piece of galvanized pipe that I matched the outside diameter to the curve in the bow. It is rock solid 4 years later.
