Has anyone out there purchased one yet. Looking for info and reaction to the boat. Possibly interested in buying one.

Hunter 212

I have enjoyed sailing the prototype and now the new that we have. It is fast and I have sailed circles around other boats. Strongly recommend that you get the mast raise system, outboard motor bracket and definintely the roller furling for this boat as it will make things easier. There is a bracket that attaches to the top of the trailer guide ons that the early boats were not shipped out with the original trailers that carry the back of the mast.

I have a Hunter 212 as of 3 weeks

There are some uncomfortable rigging items, like a third set of short shrouds that serve to trip you when you're on the cabin top (which is challenging to get to if you are short legged! The jib cleats are at a strange angle if even you want to cross sheet the jib. It sails pretty well and fast. YOu're welcome to come aboard and try it! I'm getting adjusted to the rigging and have sailed the gennaker every time out (3 times) since you really need it to do any racing competitively. My club (Percy Preist Yacht Club) in Nashville, has so far given it a PHRF 222 rating with the gennaker and 237 without. I still need to measure the jib to have that final. I did beat a J24 with handicap this weekend using the gennaker on as many trims as possible. ***Main concern is that this week the boat has a crack above the starboard window about 3 inched long. I've notified Hunter and the dealer. Not sure what will be result. What if another crack develops at waterline or below? Bulp, bulp, bulp. Carole Paine cpsails@mindspring.com

3rd set of shrouds

The "3rd" set of short shrouds are actually the guide wires for your mast raising system. You should remove them while sailing.
