Has anyone ever changed the color of their hull say from white to dark blue? Any thoughts? I was thinking of doing a color change to the hull of my Hunter Legend 37.Thanks in Advance,Barrie
A couple down the dock from me have a C36 livaboard. The husband did a hull color change from white to blue. Then they took to hanging tarps and awnings all the time. Then they got A/C. The dark color absorbs much more heat from sunlight. Made life uncomfortable for them.
If you do, I would use a VERY good paint like Sterling and not a one part Brightsides type. One parts are very soft and scratch pretty easily. Sterling and AwlGrip are hard as nails but more difficult to apply properly. LaDonna
Changing hull color can be done by painting or regel coating. The paint is just that and you will have to deal with scraps and scratchs that will be more noticable. The best way would be to regel coat the boat (with the appropiate color gel coat)This is very pricey(about twice the cost of paint)but is the best way to do it. Both are expencive and sorry this is not the answer you wanted to hear ! You did not mention if you were planing this as a do it yourself type project but both paint and regeling are best done by professionals !
